Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan - Seven members of rescue team from SAR Office Banjarmasin went to the burning ship KM Mutiara Sentosa 1 in three miles northeast of Masalembo Island in Bawean waters on it journey from Surabaya to Balikpapan.
"Three of SAR members go to the location using the HR 3602 helicopter following four other who departed first by sea on Friday (19/5) night after receiving information of the burning ship," said SAR Banjarmasin head Abram B Kolimon here, Saturday.
KM Mutiara Sentosa 1 carried 198 passengers. Once the ship was on fire, the vessels around the site provided help. Among them KM Dharma Kartika 9.
While 37 people were evacuated by SAR Widura 225 Surabaya, 48 people were evacuated by local fishermen, 99 were evacuated by tugboat) which last night assisted the evacuation process.
Currently KM Dharma Kartika 9 is sailing to port of Tanjung Perak Surabaya, estimated arriving Saturday at 21.00 pm.
While KM Meratus Makassar evacuated two victims in a safe condition, then evacuated to Makassar.
Victims identity are Winarsih (50) from Mojokerto and Sinta (17) from Makassar. It estimated to reach Makassar on Sunday (21/5) at 06.00.
Victims in Masalembo numbered six people, the details are three people treated at the community health center Masalembo, and two were crew of KM Mutiara Sentosa 1, namely one captain and a machinist.
While the victim died in the accident amounted to five people and four of whom were identified.
